If they do, Rosmerta asks them to find Sugar Shrub, Mallowsweet, and Moondew as ingredients. When the player works a shift at the Inn, Rosmerta says she needs more time to find the object and the player decides whether they want to help Rosmerta create a new kind of Butterbeer. Rosmerta offers to look for the object Jacob hid if the player agrees to help out at the Inn. The player finds out Jacob would write in a notebook until being taken away by Aurors. ![]() Communications still arrive via the earpiece codec, but they are short and pointed. There are none of the drawn out cut scenes and conversations of the mainline Metal Gears. Where Metal Gear Solid 4 was characterised by Solid Snake's old age, Raiden's youth and agility infuses every aspect of Rising, where the props and trappings of the Kojima's myth are presented with a light touch. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance: the cyborg ninja Raiden may not have the gruff, stubbly charm of series poster man Solid Snake, but he's a solid choice for this role: lithe, quick and with a determined steel jawbone. You assume control of Raiden, the protagonist from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (petulant, weedy) that nobody wanted to play and the supporting character from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (determined, cyborg ninja) that everybody wanted to play. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is a Platinum game dressed in Metal Gear's garb, which is to say it's a game that prioritises spectacle over stealth, hurled one-liners over hushed codec comms and death by katana cleave over a chloroform choke. In any creative marriage of this sort, it's important to understand what each party brings to the banquet. Bring the two outfits together into a single game and you're guaranteed a neologism. If Metal Gear neutralises its foe with a sleep dart fired from a darkened air vent slit, Platinum Games rides into the mess hall on an armoured stallion wielding a readied bazooka on each shoulder like a vision plucked from a Michael Bay cheese dream. If not the greatest Japanese developer at work today, Platinum is certainly the most creatively boisterous, hurling explosive titles such as Vanquish and Bayonetta out of the door to enthral players and disrupt rivals with their noise and muscle. The Osaka-based Platinum Games – creators of Metal Gear Rising – by contrast, is a video game developer known principally for its swagger and volume. Sure, the tense scuttles past armed guards under a roomy cardboard box are usually followed by a soliloquy on the nature of contemporary warfare, but Metal Gear's quiddity was always to be found in its shadows. Hideo Kojima's long-running series has always been a game of military hide-and-seek: creeping in khaki, sneaking with silencers. The game is something of a novelty itself – a new kind of construct, one fashioned from a blend of alien ingredients. I t is fitting, perhaps, that Metal Gear Rising should be subtitled with a neologism. ![]() I love Lucifer’s hesitance to believe he’s got an actual friend – and his reactions and thought processes w/r/t that are both heart-wrenching and beautiful all at once. Chloe follows Lucifer into the auctioneer’s house and sees the real wings, and things spin out deftly from there. :)Ī lovely rewrite of S1, from 1x07 onward, that works on developing Chloe & Lucifer’s friendship with Chloe in the know. The characterizations presented in these stories are some of my favorites of any Lucifer fic author. Flutterflap has a lovely writing style that makes it easy to just fall right into the narrative and forget about the world for a while. Each story is complete and well worth a read. Into the Spin by is (currently) a three-story series that takes place during S2 (ish). If you like action, supernatural hijinks a la ATWL, and lots of surprises, I definitely recommend this one.Ī more lighthearted take on “the revelation.” Chloe & Lucifer get stuck somewhere. Lots of interesting ideas and exciting twists. What a fun romp through a unique take on the Lucifer mythos. This first story is pre-slash and can easily be read through a friendship-only lens (later stories in the series may be different, and I haven’t read them, yet, so can’t vouch for them - proceed beyond the first story with caution if slash isn’t your jam).Ĭompleted since my last rec post! This gem takes place after Lucifer has sent his mother to create her own universe at the end of S2. ![]() And if you’re not into slash, don’t worry too much about the Lucifer/Dan tag. For anybody who is looking for stories beyond Deckerstar romances, this might be a story for you. Erya manages to skillfully juggle a lot of Lucifer’s more humorous personality traits with his darker ones, and the growing friendship between Dan and Lucifer is told organically and without feeling forced, despite many of Dan’s rather hilarious introspective protests. Dan takes notice that Lucifer is upset and tries to help. The narrative begins shortly after Lucifer has killed Uriel. I loved the characterization of Lucifer in particular in both of these beautiful pieces.Īnother short, satisfying S3-finale continuation.Ī well-written, Deckerstar-positive story that primarily focuses on the relationship between Dan and Lucifer. In Your Closet by burningupasunjusttosayhello ( and titc ( touching two-part (so far) series about how emotions can be found in the simplest of places. And even better, the story ends on a very open-ended note, inviting the author to continue it if desired, but not in a way that lacks a sense of finality, like a WIP would. Just a quick, satisfying extension that lets the revelation sink in for Chloe. So far, my favorite S3-finale continuation. (This story is told mostly in screenshots.) It’ll take you maybe 5 minutes to get from the beginning to the end. Quite frankly, this is the most hysterical thing I’ve ever read. The following recs are in alphabetical order by author and are not listed in a way that is intended to imply preference. I didn’t get to finish reading all the stories on my current reading list before posting this, but I have enough stocked up to recommend that I have to jettison them or my brain will break :) So … here we go! Well, you can have a dry and hot land where there’s no greenery to be seen anywhere (apart from cacti): Once you’ve started playing, you can’t change it. Of course, this only works in creative and during world creation. You can now offset them up or down from the defaults, as you see fit. The parameters I made available for you to tweak are the global temperature and humidity of the world. But the idea is still valid, even though you would not be selecting “biomes” - you’d be twiddling with some sliders instead. ![]() In Survivalcraft there’s no concept of biomes as such, the terrain generation works differently than in Minecraft. What was suggested is that I allow limiting the creative mode world to a single biome – e.g. This time it arrived in an email from maggieblue. Something so simple that I’d never thought of before. There’s nothing wrong with these, it’s just that each of them is a massive amount of work, so sadly it has to sit in the queue until I get some time to look at it.īut from time to time someone makes a brilliant, simple suggestion. I don't see why they could not have played the long version in the title yet used only the first half for teaching. I now know that the first thing I always heard was a captivating arrangement of the timeless Shaker hymn that Aaron Copland made famous in Appalachian Spring, 'Simple Gifts.' I did not yet know that the title was 'Simple Gifts' rather than 'Tis the Gift to Be Simple.' But in either case, I do not believe it was anywhere to be found in the list of tunes to be learned. The one piece I always hoped to learn with it, however, was always the soundtrack to the title screen. I used to enjoy the sounds of the Miracle. That was a strange release bearing in mind that the Switch was already on shop shelves. And then, months later, Nintendo fans received their own version - on Wii U. This is essentially a creditably remaster for PS4, Xbox and PC, with upgraded assets and a smooth 60fps refresh. until late 2016 that is, when Darksiders received its Warmastered Edition upgrade. So how does it fare on Switch? The results are pleasantly surprising.ĭarksiders was first released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 but while it's a wonderful game, there's no doubt that it has a series of technical flaws, and performed poorly on both, with only the the subsequent PC port delivering the goods. There are puzzles, dungeons, combat and more packed in here and of the three games in the series, it remains my favorite. Available across many platforms past and present, Darksiders is a wonderful action game in the style of The Legend of Zelda or even Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, albeit with post-apocalyptic trimmings. It’s already kind of a miracle that some people gave the game a chance on ps4, Xbox and pc.In what is no doubt its final stop, the original Darksiders returns one last time on Nintendo Switch. The game will have many problems as it already does. They won’t make much money back from it so it’s not worth it. At least anytime soon.Įdit: like the guy said above, adding new versions of the game cost money, money that I doubt they want to waste on a switch version. So in conclusion as much as I, you or others would like it too I doubt that Darksiders 3 will release on the switch. Darksiders 3 while a great game is poorly optimized for all platforms. The switch is also a different market and people much rather buy games on Nintendo similar to Darksiders 3 but arguably with better gameplay and performance. Not many people know about the Darksiders franchise and most who do don’t really give the game a chance. Too many people probably won’t even buy it on the switch for them to do all that work. They would still need to recreate the game almost from the ground up to suit the new platform. Even then though the game will run extremely poorly on the new switch even with the rumored increased performance. That’s if the studios behind Darksiders 3 are willing to add it to the Nintendo switch that is. Maybe with the new switch on the herizon, Darksiders 3 could very well be released for that switch only. The game would barely work unless they create a whole new version of Darksiders 3 just for the switch. ![]() It would be extremely hard to run 3 on the Nintendo switch. The game already has problems such as loading issues on other more hardware intensive platforms. ![]() That being said I don’t think Darksiders 3 will come out anytime soon for the standard switch, and switch light. They don’t want to miss out on some new 3rd party games. They are going to release this switch so Nintendo won’t lag too much behind the ps5 and new Xbox. It is said to be a mode generational console leap for the switch with slightly better performance and better visuals. ![]() It is codenamed by fans for now as the “Switch pro” but it won’t be called this at launch by Nintendo. There are rumors that a new switch will release some time in 2021. “But then again, others believe unvaccinated New Yorkers are like leprous zombies who explode on contact. “Some people say it infringes on their right to decide whether to inject a substance into their own bodies,” said NYPD’s Chief of Police while demonstrating how to retrofit syringes onto standard-issue tasers.
